QR Drop-off Codes
Let customers drop off a parcel with a QR code instead of a printed label.
QR Drop-off Codes#
When QR drop-off is switched on, the plugin asks EasyPost for a QR code every time it buys an inbound shipping label — and gets one whenever the carrier that shipped the label supports it. The customer takes their packed parcel to the carrier counter, shows the code on their phone, and the carrier prints and applies the label for them — no printer, no tape, no label paper at home.
This removes the single most common reason a trade-in never ships: the customer accepted the offer but never got around to printing the label. The printed label is still generated and still available, so nothing is lost for customers who prefer to print.

QR drop-off is a PRO feature. On the free plan the setting is shown with a PRO badge but cannot be enabled, and no QR codes are generated or displayed.
Turning It On#
Go to Gyta Buyback → Settings → EasyPost and scroll to the EasyPost Advanced section. Tick QR drop-off codes and save.
Nothing else needs configuring. EasyPost must already be set up and generating labels — the QR code is produced from the same shipment as the label.
How It Works Day to Day#
- You (or the plugin) buy the inbound label as usual — at checkout, when you mark a shipping kit sent, or in bulk from the Batch Labels tab (or the Create Shipping Labels (Gyta) bulk action on the Orders list).
- If you have not pinned a Preferred Shipping Service, the plugin picks the cheapest rate among the carriers that can issue QR codes, so the code can actually be produced.
- Immediately after the label is bought, the plugin asks EasyPost for the QR code for that shipment and stores it on the order.
- The customer sees the code on the order-received (thank-you) page and on the View order page, under the heading "No printer? No problem."
- The same code is included in customer emails sent after the label exists (plain-text emails carry a link to it instead of the image), and it appears as a QR code button next to Print label and Track in the My Trade-ins account tab.
- The customer shows the code at the carrier counter and the carrier prints the label onto the parcel.
Good to Know#
- Only four carriers can issue QR codes. EasyPost generates them for USPS, CanadaPost, Evri and UPS only. Any other carrier returns no code.
- UPSDAP is not UPS. UPS Digital Access Program rates are a separate carrier in EasyPost and cannot produce a QR code — and UPSDAP is frequently the cheapest rate available. That is exactly why the plugin restricts rate shopping to QR-capable carriers when the setting is on.
- The cheapest QR-capable rate may not be the cheapest rate overall. With no Preferred Shipping Service pinned, you are trading a little postage cost for a code the customer can actually use. If no QR-capable rate is available at all, the plugin falls back to the lowest available rate and the label is bought as normal.
- Pinning a carrier overrides the QR preference. If you have set a Preferred Shipping Service, that choice wins — and if it is not one of the four supported carriers, no QR code is issued. If that service is not available for the parcel, the plugin falls back to the absolute cheapest rate, not the cheapest QR-capable one.
- Inbound labels only. QR codes are generated for the customer-to-you shipment. Return labels bought when a customer declines an offer, and the outbound box of a shipping kit, never carry a QR code.
- Failures are never customer-facing. If a code cannot be issued, the printed label still works exactly as before. The plugin adds an order note naming the carrier that was actually used and listing the supported carriers, so you can see why a code is missing instead of guessing.
- Codes are created at purchase time. Turning the setting on later does not add QR codes to labels that were already bought — only labels purchased after the setting is enabled get one.
- Admin emails never include the code. The QR block is added to customer emails only.
- The QR image is hosted by EasyPost. The plugin stores the link on the order rather than a copy of the image, so the customer's device needs an internet connection to display it.
