Buyback Only
The default mode: your whole store is a trade-in and payout site.
Buyback Only#
For stores that only buy devices from customers — pure buyback, trade-in, or recycling. There's nothing to sell and nothing to configure. Every product in your catalog is something a customer sends to you and gets paid for.
This is the default mode, and the only mode in the free version. If you just want to take in used phones, tablets, or other devices and pay people out, you're already set up.
To also sell products alongside buybacks, see Dual (Buy + Trade-In). For a tour of every mode, see the Store Modes overview.
When to use it#
Use Buyback Only if:
- You run a pure buyback, trade-in, or recycling operation.
- You never sell products — customers only send devices to you.
- You want the simplest setup, with no product roles or categories to manage.
The whole catalog is treated as buyback. There is no "sell" side.
How it works#
The customer:
- Adds the device they want to sell to the cart.
- At checkout, picks a payout destination — PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, Interac, Amazon Gift Card, Store Credit, or crypto/stablecoin (whichever methods you've enabled).
- Places the order and mails in their device.
You (the merchant):
- Receive the order on-hold.
- Generate a prepaid inbound shipping label (via EasyPost) so the customer can ship the device.
- Inspect the device when it arrives.
- Approve and pay the customer, or send a revised offer if the device isn't as described.
Set it up#
Buyback Only is the default, so a fresh install already runs this way. To confirm or set it:
- Go to Gyta Buyback → Settings → Checkout tab.
- Set Store Mode to Buyback only.
- Set each product's price to the amount you'll pay for that device. No other product setup is needed.
- Enable the payout methods you want to offer (PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, Interac, Amazon Gift Card, Store Credit, crypto/stablecoin).
That's it. Every product now behaves as a buyback item.
Because every product is a sale to you, the buttons are relabeled automatically: the product "Add to cart" button reads "Trade in / Sell to us" and the checkout button reads "Get my offer" (classic and block checkout). Customize both on the Gyta Buyback → Settings → Checkout tab via Buyback button label and Buyback checkout button label.
Note: Store Mode selection (Dual and Net Settlement) is a premium feature. Buyback Only is the free default.
